What Is Faith?

What Is Faith?
In Hebrews 11:1 It states that , “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” At first glance it appears that something does not make sense here. We usually don't think of faith as a substance, in other words something solid. When I think of the evidence of things not seen, I think of radar scans that have indicated the presence of a very large living creature in Lake Champlain. They are not talking about actually seeing Champ, the lake monster with their own eyes, they are getting some potentially useful information from another source. This scripture verse is talking about something that is solid and that there is believable evidence of.
Most of our lives are an act of faith. We get into our cars each day and have faith that we will not die in a car accident. We marry our spouses with the faith that they will be not be unfaithful or leave us. Most of us depend upon some force for good in the universe, someone or something very powerful that has our backs. For most of us this is God.
